Learning about past events and the people who've influenced history will allow you to understand how the world got to the point it's at now and how it will continue to develop in the future. You'll learn valuable skills. Apart from studying a wide range of exciting historic periods, you'll learn a range of handy skills that will help you with A-levels and future work. These include:

vResearch and problem skills such as investigation and problem-solving skills, analytical and interpretation skills.

Key Stage 3 overview

The History course at Key Stage 3 prepares students for the GCSE History specification. In Year 7 & 8 students develop knowledge and skills in chronology, source analysis and essay writing. In Year 7 & 8 students have two lessons a week. In Year 7 the learning journey starts with The Normans, The Tudors and the Stuarts, including the English Civil War and ends with the Industrial Revolution. In Year 8 students study the Causes of World War One, life in the trenches, key battles as well as the impact of the war on the wider world. Students have the opportunity to investigate the Second World War, the Holocaust and the struggle for Civil Rights in America.
