Subject overview

The department is staffed by a specialist teacher who delivers Drama from KS4 to KS5. The Drama Studio is fully equipped with full stage curtains and lighting equipment to give the students a professional stage space to approach to the subject.

When performing the students have a fantastic theatre space that holds an audience of 200. A lighting box is used to teach students the basics in programming and designing. Students have the option to take on either a performance role or a design role at both GCSE and A level.

Key Stage 4 overview

We deliver the new 9-1 specification Pearson GCSE Drama at KS4. This course encourages and understand of fundamental principles and concepts of Drama, including performance skills, design skills, directorial skills and the theory behind the subject. The course also requires students to learn skills to allow them to analyse and evaluate live theatre. To succeed in this course, it is essential that students be able to think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically.

How do you fancy a subject that’s certain to create a great future for you?

A Level Drama gets on the inside of the professional industry and allows students to devise, structure and perform their own dramatic creations. Drama at A-Level focuses on devising, realising and interpreting a performance text. Career opportunities are endless if you study Drama due to the skills this subject provides; Performing, directing, stage design, law and medicine could be up for grabs. Drama is looked upon highly by Russell Group Universities.
