Catherine Barter Author Visit

On Monday 26th February KS3 students were invited to the main hall to an author talk from Troublemakers author Catherine Barter. Troublemakers is her debut novel and is currently on the North East Teenage Book Award and Waterstones Book of the Year award shortlists.

Emma Reeves and Brooke Reed Year 8 read out a short introduction before Catherine started her presentation.

Catherine talked about her novel and what it is like to write for young adult readers. The book is fairly political and focuses on Women's Rights which Catherine explained was her inspiration for the novel through photographs.

After her presentation, Catherine answered many insightful questions from the audience on political issues, her reading habits and what it is like to be a writer as a profession.

Students were then given the chance to buy Troublemakers and get the books personally signed to take away.

Thank you to Blackwells for organising the visit and bringing Catherine along to inspire our students.
