FOUR Thorp Academy athletes are heading for the Typhoo National Junior Athletics Championships later this summer.

Louis Graham, Erin Nicholson, Eddie Hopps and Michael Buchan all triumphed at this month’s Legacy Games to qualify to represent Team North-East at Coventry Athletics Track on July1-2.

The quartet can plan for the big occasion after making everyone at Thorp proud of their performances at Gateshead International Stadium.

Graham (Year 10) has qualified for the shot putt and Hopps (Year 9) will be competing in the 100m.

Nicholson (Year 8) has four events to focus on after shining in the discus, javelin, 100m and 60m.

Buchan (Year 9) will be racing in the 100m and 200m after his displays at the Legacy Games and Thorp have hailed the ‘excellent contribution’ of all the success stories.

Thorp also impressed at the Panathlon Regional Disability Challenge, pictured below.

Thorp represented Gateshead in a competition consisting of polybat, boccia, table cricket and new age curling and won which was an amazing experience and a fantastic day out.
