Numeracy

FOCUS OF THE TERM: Representing Data

"Mathematical literacy is an individual's capacity to identify and understand the role that mathematics plays in the world, to make well-founded judgments and to use and engage with mathematics in ways that meet the needs of that individual's life as a constructive, concerned and reflective citizen." PISA

As an Academy we aim to embed mathematical skills across the curriculum and equip students with the skills necessary for them to make progress.

The numeracy policy aims to provide staff of the academy with the ability to meet the following criteria:

1) To develop a consistent use of language surrounding numeracy.
2) To develop a consistent use of methods in numeracy.
3) To identify opportunities in our subject areas for numeracy development.

4) To develop an understanding of the maths curriculum.

The numeracy focus for the term is representing data.
